'CanControl' are a team of youth workers who offer workshops in spray can art. Our workshops attempt to illustrate that spray can art is not just about scribbling your name on public walls, but aims to highlight the fact that spray can art is now an established art form with a rich history and tradition stretching back over the last 30 years.
Our workshops demonstrate an invaluable guidance to the youth of today touching on a popular subculture that can easily attract young people to fall into illegal activities. We value this education to be just as important as other issues such as drugs guidance and sexual health awareness.
We have worked alongside councils, schools and youth work teams across London, Brighton and the South East and now have a formula in place that provides a rewarding and exciting educational experience. Spray can art can be an extremely positive, creative outlet and a massive confidence booster. We put great importance on team building and make sure that everyone involved is treated equally and respectfully. Our workshops are designed to provide a background history of the art form, and to demonstrate the techniques required to produce quality spray can art.
"Cancontrol have brought a professional workshop that has released creativity in young people, who in the past would have never expressed themselves through art."
Chris Henry - Senior Youth Worker, Dragon Hall
"I have never been involved in an activity that will engage and cater for both girls and boys of all ages. Since Kelly began attending the workshops her grades in graphics have improved substantially."
